This is the news/blog site for Alpine Guides (Aoraki) Ltd – aka “AGL”. We’re a mountain guiding company based in New Zealand’s premier alpine playground - Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.
AGL is NZ’s longest established mountain and ski guiding company, originally set up in 1966.
We have a year-round operational base in the incredible Mt Cook National Park, and an office in Methven open June – October – the base of Methven Heliskiing.
Winter guiding at Mt Cook includes Wilderness Heliskiing, glacier skiing (Ski The Tasman), along with ski touring, ice climbing and backcountry avalanche courses.
Through the summer months we run a busy mountaineering course program, along with guided ascents of New Zealand’s classic peaks – including Mount Aspiring, Mount Cook and Mount Tasman.
The company has been privately owned since 2000 by its directors, Bryan Carter, and Kevin Boekholt. Both are fully qualified IFMGA guides, with over 50 years combined experience with Alpine Guides.
